Jukun Bible Institute equips Bible translators and church leaders to produce accurate, culturally relevant Scripture in local languages. Through practical training, mentoring, and expert guidance, we strengthen translation teams from first drafts to final quality checks. Our work blends linguistic insight with careful exegesis and community engagement so that translated Scripture is clear, faithful to the original meaning, and natural in everyday speech. Former Defense Minister, Lt General Theophilus Danjuma retired has inaugurated a Jukun Bible Institute in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. He said it was meant to enhance the translation of the Holy Bible into Jukun Language. The project started in 1956 by an American lady, Margaret Dykstra, who was assisted by some indigenes, Malam Joel Omiri and late Mrs. Milkatu Filibus Ikaa. He added that before leaving Nigeria for America, Dykstra handed a complete translation of the New Testament to him and pleaded with him to continue with the translation project.

He supports the development and oversight of translator training programs and ensures that institutional systems effectively serve translation and literacy teams. With a strong commitment to accountability and excellence, he helps create an environment where accurate and culturally relevant Scripture can be produced in local languages.

A brief History of Jukun Bible Translation Project:
the jukun Bible translation project started in 1956 by an American Missionary Late Mrs. Margaret Dykstra. She was asisted by two Takum indigens namely late Mallam Joel Omiri and late Mrs. Milkatu Filibus Ikaa. The team translated and printed the New Testament portion of the Bible.
Before Leaving Nigeria to the United State of America, she approached Gen. TY. Danjuma and handed the completed New Testament and pleaded with him to continue with the translation project.
* The General accepted the challenge and quickly set up a new team made up of late Rev. Simon D. Ikpi, Late Mallam David Biliya and late Mallam Samaila Tsokwa Yakubu, etc who continued with the translation project. Not too long after the General reshuffled the team and brought Rev. Isaiah Jirapye Magaji to lead the translation project.
